Competition

International competition of young woodwinds Emona 2015 is intended for soloists that are still a part of the education process.

Competition disciplines are: clarinet, saxophone, flute and oboe.

 

Competitors are divided into six age categories (cat.):

• I. cat .: up to 12 years (born in 2003 or younger)
• II . cat .: up to 14 years (born in 2001 or younger)
• III . cat .: up to 16 years old (born in 1999 or younger)
• IV . cat .: up to 18 years (born in 1997 or younger)
• V. cat .: Bachelor (Bachelor degree students)
• VI . cat .: Master (Master degree students)

4. category: Thursday, 19.11.2015, 8.00 - 20.40

5. category, 1. round: Monday, 16.11.2015, 9.00 - 17.00

5. category, 2. round: Wednesday, 18.11.2015, 16.00 - 18.30

6. category, 1. round: Monday, 16.11.2015, 18.30 - 20.30 (1. part), Tuesday, 17.11.2015, 10.00 - 12.30 (2. part)

6. category, 2. round: Wednesday, 18.11.2015, 19.00 - 20.30
 

The compositions are not obliged to be performed by heart.

Competitors must play from the original scores.

In each category, one compulsory composition by Slovenian author must be performed and the rest of the program can be choosen by the candidate himself. In the 5th and 6th category of the second round, the candicate can choose a concert he will be performing. Candidates must reach at least 90 points in the first round, to qualify to the second round.

Musical notes of the mandatory songs without piano part will as working material, be published on the competition’s website.  Otherwise the pieces can be fully subscribed from DSS publisher (link).

Repetitions are carried out as specified or in its sole discretion, except if the specified length is exceeded.

In the case of cyclical compositions the selected program can be performed individually, if the length required would be exceeded.

The candidate can choose the order of performance himself.

The order of the competitors in all stages is arranged in an alphabetical order by their last names ( A to Z ).

Application deadline is 19th October 2015.

Competition fee is 70€.

• II. category (under 14 years ): one round, compulsory composition Dominik Jakšič: Črni kos (download), and the program of free choice in the framework of up to 15 minutes.
• III. category (under 16 years) : one round, compulsory composition Helena Vidic : Arcturus (download), and the program of free choice in the framework of up to 20 minutes.
• IV. category (under 18 years ): one round, compulsory song Katarina Pustinek Rakar: e.mona@si (download), and the program of free choice in the framework up to 30 minutes.
• V. category (Bachelor) : two rounds, the preliminary round of compulsory song Dušan Bavdek: Geste mrtvega časa (download), and the program of free choice in the framework of up to 25 minutes and in the final round concert of free choice up to 20 minutes.
• VI. Category (Master) : two stages, the preliminary round of compulsory song Nenad Firšt: Atelje (download), and the program of free choice in the framework of up to 30 minutes and in the final round concert of free choice up to 20 minutes.
