Masterclass EMONA 2016 is offering individual classes for primary and secondary music school students as well as university students held by recognized visiting professors
Participants are advised to perform with piano accompaniment.
A concert given by the course tutor with the participation of Slovenian artists and music pedagogues will conclude the event.

prof. Dragan Sremec
Dragan Sremec graduated saxophone and earned his MA degree in the class of Josip Nochta at the Zagreb Academy of Music. He graduated also conducting in the class of Igor Gjadrov. He received further training under Daniel Deffayet at the CNSM de Paris as a French government grantee and under Dr. Eugene Rousseau at the IU School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana as a Fulbright grantee.
As a saxophone soloist and member of the Zagreb saxophone quartet he earned all major prizes at the competitions in former Yugoslavia and the number of awards, notably «Milka Trnina», «Judita”, several »Porin» awards for the CDs, «Darko Lukić» award etc.
Dragan Sremec is professor of saxophone and was also the vice-dean at the Zagreb University Music Academy, the founder of the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet, principal saxophonist with the Zagreb Philharmonic and the Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra and a regular guest-conductor of the Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra. He performed as soloist and as member of the Zagreb Saxophone quartet in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Slovenia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA (recital in Weil Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall with pianist Kari Miller) and with Zagreb Philharmonic, Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Slovenian Philharmonic, Slovenian Army Orchestra, Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Croatian Radio Television Big Band. Croatian Navy Orchestra and recently with The US Navy Band in Washington.
As a conductor Dragan Sremec appeared with the Zagreb Philharmonic, Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra and Choir, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra.
A number of foremost Croatian composers such as Papandopulo, Bjelinski, Tarbuk, Ruždjak, Klobučar dedicated their pieces to him.
He was the member of national and international juries (saxophone and wind orchestra competitions), directs international summer seminars in Krško, Stari Grad, Nova Gorica and Dubrovnik and masterclasses notably at the 24th International Saxophone Symposium in Washington.

prof. Davor Reba
Davor Reba is a Croatian clarinettist and a teacher. He studied with professor Giovanni Cavallin and earned his Bachelor's and Master of Music Degree with professor Josip Tonžetić at the Zagreb Academy of Music. Reba specialized with professor Walter Boeykens in Antwerpen and at various seminars. He earned the first award at the last competition of the clarinet students in former Yugoslavia and gave many solo recitals in Croatia and abroad with the acknowledged pianists Ljubomir Gašparević, Darko Domitrović, Veljko Glodić, Marina Pletikosa, Martina Cukrov, Vlasta Gyura, Lana Bradić, Anne Marie Wuyts and many others.Reba performed solo with the Zagreb Philharmonic orchestra, with the Croatian Chamber Orchestra and Zadar chamber orchestra. He also performed with many chamber ensembles (Cantus, The Zagreb String Quartet, The Porin Quartet, The «Arundo Donex» Clarinet Quartet, The «Crowind» Wind Quintet, The Varaždin Chamber Orchestra and The Croatian Chamber Orchestra).
He is a co-founder of the “Wind Octet ZF” and of the Septette «Ad libitum ZF» with which he has regularly performed. From 1997 he has been a full member of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and since 2001 its solo clarinettist. With the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra he toured Europe, Japan and Mexico and has co-operated with many world famous conductors and soloists. Reba represented Croatia as a member of the World Philharmonic Orchestra in Paris in 2006.
Reba is an professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. He has held regular summer seminars in Pučišća (the island of Brač).
He is one of the founders of the Croatian Clarinet Society.

prof. Branko Mihanović
Oboist Branko Mihanović attended the Music Academy in Zagreb and graduated from the High State School of Music in Freiburg under Prof. Heinz Holliger. He was solo oboist at National Opera orchestra in Zagreb, and since 1984 the first oboist of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. 2001 was appointed assistant professor, and since 2013 as a Professor of oboe at the Music Academy in Zagreb. As a soloist he has performed in most European countries, China, South America, United States and held numerous concerts accompanied by renowned Croatian and foreign orchestras. He was appointed Opera director at the National Theatre in Zagreb from 2005 to 2013. He was a member of the jury of national and international competitions as well as numerous chamber ensembles like the Zagreb Wind Trio, Zagreb Wind Ensemble, Ensemble Musica Viva and Acoustic Project. A number of recordings were achieved by Croatia Records, Cantus, Aquaria records, Orpheus and for the needs of Croatian Radio. He has received professional awards "Milka Trnina" assigned from Croatian Musical Artists Association.

prof. Gaby Pas-Van Riet
Gaby Pas-Van Riet was born in Essen (Belgium) and started playing the flute at the age of 8.
Her success in numerous music competitions enabled her to start her solo career at a very young age. She won several prizes in renowned music competitions such as the ARD Competition in Munich as well as in Aberdeen, Uelzen, Markneukirchen and Paris. Another great honour was the gold medal at the György Cziffra Competition and a concert with the Master himself afterwards.
She studied at the University of Music of Antwerp at the Royal Flemish Acadamy of Music.
With the help of a scholarship of the Belgian government, Gaby Pas-Van Riet became a Young Student at the University of Music in Cologne at the age of 14. There she studied with the principal flutist of the West German Radio Orchestra (WDR), Prof. Schwegler, and finished her solo diploma with distinction in 1979.
A scholarship from the Swiss government allowed her to continue her studies with Peter-Lukas Graf at the Music Conservatory in Basel. In 1982 she finished this diploma with distinction as well.
From 1978 until 1983 Gaby Pas-Van Riet was principal flutist of the Orchestra of the European Community under the direction of Karajan, Barenboim, Abbado and others. She has been principal flutist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Stuttgart, the SWR, since 1983.
Gaby Pas-Van Riet is a guest at various renowned music festivals such as the Casals Festival, the Tibor Varga Festival, the Berliner Festwochen, the Salzburg Festival and the Festival of Flanders, and is also a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
She is Professor of flute at the University of Music and Theatre of the Saarland (Germany), and Guest Professor at the University of Music in Antwerp.
Since 1984 she has given Master Classes in Belgium, France, Germany, and Holland. Gaby Pas-Van Riet has been a jury member in various international flute competitions.
Gaby Pas-Van Riet´s solo career spans Europe as well as the USA, Japan and the Middle East and encompasses the entire flute repertoire.
She has achieved great renown with world premieres of many modern works (e.g. H. Lachenmann), some of which are dedicated to her, and also with the rediscovery and performance of long-lost romantic flute concerti (Waelput, Benoit).
Numerous CD productions give witness to her ability: Works by Fauré, Jolivet, Cras and Tournier with the Linos Harp Quintet; by Poulenc, Milhaud and Piazzola with the pianist Paul Gulda; compositions by Bach and Kuhlau with Peter-Lukas Graf (flute) and Bruno Canino (piano), recordings with the harpist Renei Yamahata or the CD "French Trios", with Gunter Teuffel (viola) and Xavier de Maistre (harp), just to mention a few.
