The EMONA 2027 International Competition will be held at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet from 18 January to 23 January 2027.
The competition is intended for young wind players who are still enrolled in formal education.
Competition disciplines are:
o Flute
o Clarinet
o Saxophone
o Oboe
o Bassoon
o Recorder (Categories I and II only)
Competitors are divided into six age categories:
• Category I: born in 2014 or later
• Category II: born in 2012 or later
• Category III: born in 2010 or later
• Category IV: born in 2008 or later
• Category V: undergraduate students
• Category VI: master's degree students
In Categories I and II, competitors are judged separately by instrument. In Categories III–VI, all instruments compete together.
Competition results will be announced after the last performance in each category. Results will be posted on the notice board, the competition website, and the KGBL Facebook page.
Competitors must perform from original scores.
Repeats should be observed as indicated, or omitted at the performer's discretion if the prescribed time limit would otherwise be exceeded. In cyclic works, individual movements may be selected in the free-choice programme if performing the entire work would exceed the time limit.
Competitors may determine the order of pieces in their programme.
Working copies of the compulsory pieces for Categories III and IV (without piano parts) will be available on the competition website from 11 September 2026 onwards.
In all rounds, competitors will perform in alphabetical order of surname, beginning with the letter E.
An official accompanist will be available for hire.
Applications open on 30 September 2026. The application deadline is 4 December 2026.
The application fee is:
• €80 for Categories I and II;
• €100 for Categories III–VI.
After the registration period closes, the organizer will issue an invoice, which must be paid within the specified deadline.
Applications may be submitted exclusively online. Scanned scores of all competition pieces in PDF format must be attached.
In the event of excessive demand, applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
Application fees are non-refundable.
The competition is open to the public. The organizer reserves the right to make audio and video recordings and to broadcast the competition.
By registering, competitors grant the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet permission to record their performances and to publish and process personal data and recorded material exclusively for the purpose of publishing results and promoting the EMONA 2027 Festival.
